SFSS Adoption Intake Form

This form is to be completed by families that hope to adopt a relative from a foreign country and bring them to Canada. This process is known as an intercountry relative adoption. The definition of relative differs depending on the child’s country of origin. Please note if both of the child’s birth parents are deceased then you don’t require an adoption agency to bring the child to Canada. You can apply directly to Immigration Canada (IRCC) to bring them to Canada under section 117(1)(f) of the Regulations. Sunrise will review your intake form and contact you to arrange an initial meeting. The cost of the initial meeting is $200. The fee is payable at the time of booking the meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to better understand your circumstances, provide you with advice as to the steps required to bring a child to Canada, any challenges we foresee with your adoption and whether Sunrise can assist you in your adoption. It is common for families to be referred to an immigration lawyer to seek immigration advice as it may be that your circumstances are not recognized as an adoption and that immigration is the proper pathway forward in order to bring your relative to Canada.
